PROFHILO® is an injectable skin bio-stimulator that is designed to improve skin texture, quality and hydration. It is indicated to address skin laxity and the visible effects of ageing skin. It is made from hyaluronic acids …compounds that are naturally found in our skin and soft tissues, and the body’s hyaluronidase enzymes break it down with time making it a very safe treatment option. How Does It Work

PROFHILO® is injected into the skin at a series of precisely defined points which then stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to improve skin tone, and hydration and decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is hydrophilic, meaning it draws and holds water into the tissues so it acts as a hydration rather than a filler. Over the coming weeks, post-treatment collagen and elastin production is stimulated producing a secondary effect of skin tightening.  This is useful since from the age of 30 levels of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin all decrease appreciably resulting in the classic signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and lacklustre skin. The maximum effect of PROFHILO® is usually seen 6 to 8 weeks after the second treatment.

What to Expect During a PROFHILO® Treatment

PROFHILO® is a quick and easy treatment. It is injected into just 5 specific points on each side of the face, or neck, referred to as  “bio-aesthetic points”.  So the treatment is very quick, safe and straightforward….taking just 10 to 15 minutes.  Once injected it is gently massaged and spreads evenly throughout the skin. There is no local anaesthetic in the preparation so there is some brief discomfort with injecting but it differs from other skin boosters and biostimulators in only needing 10 injection points apt others that need much more multiple injection points.

How long does it Last?

We generally recommend a course of two treatments, one month apart with effects thereafter lasting up to 6 months. A repeat single treatment is recommended every six months.

How Does PROFHILO® Differ from Dermal Fillers?

While both PROFHILO® and Dermal Fillers are both injectable treatments that have hyaluronic acid as their primary constituent, PROFHILO® does not affect the contours of the face as fillers would do.  Fillers are principally designed to correct and address volume loss, and to provide definition to areas of the face such as the chin and jawline and may sometimes be able to achieve a degree of lift. 

PROFHILO® on the other hand is designed to improve the quality and integrity of the skin itself without giving any additional volume.
